How Teams Are Stacking Up

People seemed to like the tiered groupings from last year so they’re back for 2017! In case you don’t remember, the computer takes in all the teams and clusters them based on how they’ve scored points so far and how many wins they have. The craziest thing about the tiers so far this season is how tight some of the clusters are.

The Top Dogs:ย These teams are top in points and atop their division.

  • Butthole Surfers
  • Giant Octopus

The Contenders:ย You can’t even see all the teams because they’re so similar in score. These teams are right in the thick of it and really beating the shit out of the lower half of the league.

  • Shellbyville Shittysauruses
  • Philadelphia Shenanihads
  • Dreadmetal Pumaskulls

Staying Alive:ย These teams haven’t scored nearly as much as the teams above, but have scored enough wins to stay competitive. They’ll need to get in shape if they want to secure a playoff spot.

  • Robot Unicorn
  • Springfield Atoms
  • Fluffy Bunnies

Toilet Bowl Bound:ย Another tight cluster, these are teams that have barely put together a win (if at all) and are all averaging less than 100 points a game. They’ve got some serious work to do if they want to get back in it this season.

  • Nibblonians
  • TGIF
  • Mega Shark
  • Nellis AFB Boomers

Here’s how the teams have scored so far this season. The colors indicate the teams they’re lumped up with. There’s a pretty big cutoff after the Pumaskulls. The top 5 teams in the league are averaging 116 points a game, while the bottom 7 teams are averaging 88.

2011 Rematch

This week we’re going to see Macho Men and The Atoms face off in a matchup for the ages. Not really, but looking through the annals of Bo Knows Fantasy, we can find when these teams played a similar Week 13 game back in 2011. The stakes were a little different; at that time Atoms had been eliminated and Macho Men (then called Annexation of Puerto Rico) had one of the best records of all time.2011week13

In 2011 the rules were a little different, no PPR yet, no return yards, and week 13 was the final week of the season. Macho Men had made a pretty bad decision with their defense, and with the negative 6 points, they posted their second worst point total of the season. Mostย of the Macho Men lineup looks like it could be from this season, the only standouts being Cedric Benson and Roddy Whiteย and from the kicker, the rest of those players have all been on rostersย at one point in current season.

Atoms on the other hand only has one player still in the NFL, Joe Flacco. Looking over the draft it looks like Martin lost a lot of his top picks to injury, as he’s missing Hakeem Nicks, Shonn Greene, and others.
