Probably not.
Each week I’ve been posting a chart that shows how your team did that week compared to just using an ESPN lineup, and how many points you would have scored with the best line up. I took a look at ten weeks of last years season and compared how many times each team scored more, less, or the same amount of points as if they had just used ESPN to set their line up.
| Team | Greater Than ESPN | Less Than ESPN | Same | Points Gained/Lost | Most Gained | Most Lost |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Boomers | 2 | 5 | 3 | -29.9 | 12.2 | -18.2 |
| Atoms | 3 | 5 | 2 | -5.32 | 17 | -10 |
| Surfers | 1 | 3 | 6 | -15.2 | 12.4 | -21 |
| Pumaskulls | 5 | 2 | 3 | 18.4 | 19.3 | -15.3 |
| Bunnies | 4 | 5 | 1 | -15.3 | 10.1 | -12.6 |
| Mega Shark | 3 | 3 | 4 | -6.24 | 10 | -18.7 |
| Nibbonians | 3 | 6 | 1 | -31.9 | 9.25 | -14.5 |
| Octopus | 2 | 6 | 2 | -13 | 18.2 | -12.8 |
| Shenanihads | 2 | 3 | 5 | 4.85 | 11.4 | -8.4 |
| Narwhals | 5 | 4 | 1 | 8.3 | 10 | -9.9 |
| Shittysauruses | 5 | 2 | 3 | 30.5 | 13.1 | -3.25 |
| TGIF | 4 | 6 | 0 | -32.3 | 10.4 | -18 |
Pumaskulls, Narwhals, and Shittysauruses lead the pack with 5 lineups that beat ESPN. Pumaskulls and Shittysauruses only have 2 weeks where ESPN produced a better lineup. Shittysaurues had the greatest amount of points gained from these risky coaching decisions, netting 30 extra points over the season, while Pumaskulls had the biggest single game bump, gaining 19 points over the ESPN team.
Giant Octopus, TGIF, and Nibblonians had the worst lineups of any team, with 6 lineups coming in with less points than ESPN. TGIF was the biggest loser of this group, netting -32.3 points over the season. TGIF also didn’t have a single line up that matched ESPNs suggested.
