Matchup of the Week โ€“ Week 11

This week features a return of the defeated Shenanihads hoping to bounce back against a struggling Giant Octopus. This game is a rematch of week four, where the Shenanihads crushed Giant Octopus 121.1 to 97.1. Giant Octopus has struggled against Shenanihads in the past only winning two out of their seven matchups. The teams have a very similar average score this season, although Giant Octopus has shown much greater volatility.

PWR has the teams reasonably close, giving the slight edge to Giant Octopus and their higher average and higher ceiling. The player projections however give that edge back to the Shenanihads and their more balanced player roster. Both teams have fairly even rosters, although there is a pretty big discrepancy between Giant Octopus’ streaming D/ST, and the Shenanihads rock-solid Jaguars. Both teams have strong #1 players at the core positions, and it should be interesting watch Fournette vs Hunt, Thomas vs Green, and Kelce vs Gronk. With a couple Titans playing on Thursday, and multiple Falcons playing on Monday night, this one is sure to be a nail biter all the way through.

Final Prediction:

Giant Octopus: 111

Shenanihads: 113

PWR Mailbag Part III

Justin, is K-Hunt on the Podcast: Please describe the feeling of your moms, so then I can have two leagues where I am not a fucking nerd I don’t want to say, I am now the only difference being I can live vicariously through you. Signed, regretful non-owner of AB (Austin)

The only way to change my character, I am in my line up. -Fluffy

Handsomest podcast crew this year. But no more. Are you ready for a friend.

Dear Bo Knows, It’s me again. I can’t keep up the charade any longer. I am having a Halloween party on the 4-1 record while losing so many players.

Hey Eric, this is why I confide in you, a totally separate league that I was lost. Holding on by a thread, just like to say that running backs can not escape the predictions of the podcast?

Next years draft should be on a highway because that’s where most accidents happen.

Dear boomers, i am very disappointed in the league.

Wait… Jim is still in the league. How long will the Shittysauruses keep renewing her contract? Will she ever be a shame. I don’t have any obvious holes.

I’d call you a tool, but that would imply you were given a free hall pass…. which team would have the worst score of the league? I suppose you are going to start slow like last year for byes in the playoffs.

Is Lucinda a sneaky Robo team? There is a pile of shit.

Justin, Still willing to trade with? Not just this season but overall.

Andrew, if you ask me, I think there is no reasoning behind the random and chaotic nature of the playoff picture. Anarchy is in favor this week.

I’m not saying I hate you, but I can’t face the prospect of appearing on my league’s podcast, but I do this? How do I need to donate to help you?

You know who it is, and I will never be wrangled! Rejoice, as I transcend art and reality and time and listening to Brett last week, I’m not questioning your intelligence, merely denying its existence.

What the fuck is up with nothing but destroyed hopes. Especially the Pumaskulls. Oh, the comedy of the season? Trade, draft, drop, pick up, etc.

Matchup of the Week โ€“ Week 11

Two of the top teams from Division B go at it this week in a game that will definitely impact the Shenanihads path to the playoffs. They’ve met once already this season with the Pumaskulls edging out the Shenanihads 101.1-87.5. The teams are 4-4 against each other lifetime, so this matchup will determine just who the better team is overall (till next year). The Shenanihads have struggled the last few weeks, only averaging 87.4 points a game, while Pumaskulls have been surging, posting their highest point total of the season last week. Both teams have been extremely consistent with a low score of ~80 points and both averaging ~104 points per game.

PWR has the teams extremely close, 51% to 49% with Pumaskulls getting the edge. The player projection system has a dead split 50-50 with each team projected to score about 105 points. Pumaskulls clearly have the edge with Russell Wilson going against the struggling Matt Ryan while the Shenanihads have the edge at running back with Leonard Fournette back in the line-up. The Shenanihads also have a slight edge at wide receiver although with Travis Kelce on bye, they have a significant hole at the tight end position. Most of the action takes place on Thur and early Sunday so we may have a winner early, but with Devante Parker playing on Monday we may be stuck waiting till the end of the week to declare a winner.

Final Prediction:

Pumaskulls: 103

Shenanihads: 107

Tiers Update

Looking at tiers again but this time with playoff chances!

The Top Dogs:ย These teams are top in points, atop their division, and nearly locked for playoffs.

  • Dreadmetal Pumaskulls (99%)
  • Butthole Surfers (99%)
  • Shellbyville Shittysauruses (95%)

The Contenders:ย This tier is pretty interesting because it includes two teams that have scored as well as two teams from the tier above, but are lacking in wins. Boomers lacks the points the wins and points from the teams above, but have obviously performed better than the teams below.

  • Giant Octopus (90%)
  • Philadelphia Shenanihads (86%)
  • Nellis AFB Boomers (41%)

The Sixth Spot:ย These teams havenโ€™t scored nearly as much as the teams above, but have scored enough wins to stay competitive. Theyโ€™ll need to get in shape if they want to secure a playoff spot.

  • Fluffy Bunnies (52%)
  • Robot Unicorn (17%)
  • Nibblonians (18%)

Toilet Bowl Bound:ย The window is shrinking for these teams, and while they’re not technically eliminated it’s a long shot for them to make playoffs. All these teams have ~1% chance to make it to the show.

  • TGIF
  • Springfield Atoms
  • Mega Shark

Podcast 2017 โ€“ Week 9

Don’t worry about the week 8 podcast because Austin and Justin are back this week with an EXTENDED episode. We discuss fantasy and real trade deadlines, quarterback fallout, the greatest Marvel movie of all time, and of course… the power rankings.

Position Ranks

I’ve finally built a scraper toย player dataย from the ESPN site so we can finally look at who’s started what players the most, who’s scoring the most out of the WR/TE slot, who’s scored the least amount of QB points; the skies the limit. You can check out the data yourself for the first breakdown and then check out my notes below. These are the average amount of points started in each roster spot. (*Note that this is by the roster slot not the position)

Let’s look at the best and worse teams at each position:

Quarterback:

  • Best – TGIF – No surprise here as TGIF has rostered three quarterbacks for most of the season and had pretty good luck starting the right one.
  • Worst – Shenanihads – With Matt Ryan and the Falcons severely under-performing, this comes as no surprise.

Running Back:

  • Best – Boomers – With the trio of Zeke, Gordon, and Ingram, this was also no surprise, although Butthole Surfers are right behind them.
  • Worst – The Nibblonians – A sore spot for the Nibblonians with DeMarco Murray and Marshawn Lynch under-performing all season, they’ve haven’t even been able to score 7 points a week from this spot.

Wide Receiver:

  • Best – Giant Octopus – Hill, Cooks, and Green are all the top 6 of wide receivers this season.
  • Worst – Mega Shark – Golden Tate and Demaryius Thomas have both had down seasons.

RB/WR Flex:

  • Best – Boomers – The slot has mostly been held by one of his top 10 RBs.
  • Worst – Atoms – I’m sure even the players themselves would be shocked to see themselves in the Atoms flex spot.

WR/TE Flex:

  • Best – Shittysauruses – Home of some of the best receivers in the league. How would you like it if Julio Jones was only the third best receiver on your team?
  • Worst – Pumaskulls – This one surprised me. Home to mostly Maclin and Decker, they’ve only been able to drum up 6.6 points a week from this position.

Tight End:

  • Best – Shenanihads – This guy doesn’t even have Gronk… but Kelce has been pretty fucking legit this season.
  • Worst – Atoms – There’s a theme here and Eric Ebron is fucking terrible.

D/ST:

  • Best – Surfers – Mostly held by the Ravens, they’ve been averaging almost 15 points a week out of a position that the rest of the league is only averaging 8 out of.
  • Worst – Boomers – Falcons, Rams, Bengals, Chiefs, the Boomers are seeing what sticks.

Bench:

  • Most Points – TGIF – Again no surprise with three of the best QBs all on one roster.
  • Least Points – Atoms – How many of these guys are less than 5% owned? I won’t check.

Matchup of the Week โ€“ Week 8

Boomers are back in the MotW after their win performance last week. They’ve been dominating over the last three weeks, rattling off three wins in a row and averaging 120.27 per game. On the other side of the match-up we have the #2 ranked team Butthole Surfers, a team that hasn’t necessarily been struggling, but has failed to meet expectations for three weeks in a row.

These teams have met twice in the 2016 season, with the Surfers edging out a victory by less than 12 points in both contests.

The PWR system pretty heavily favors the Surfers in this match-up, though they haven’t outscored the Boomers since week 4. What PWR also doesn’t know is that the Surfers will be without one of their top scorers, Todd Gurley. The player projections have the Boomers favored, led by a trio of running backs projected to score 50 points just between the three of them. The Surfers will have the edge at wide receiver with Lee and Brown on bye, while their tight end’s are nearly a wash. With nearly all of Boomers players slated to play at 10AM, the Surfers will have a good idea of what they’re up against pretty early.

Final Prediction:

BOOMERS: 121

SURFERS: 113

Who do you think will win? Make sure to leave a comment and vote on the game.

PWR Mailbag Part II

More questions from the PWR machine:

Danny Woodhead going down in flames, at least you haven’t bailed out like Austin did last year. Will Power rankings be coming? I know this isn’t the preferred method of contact but whatevz -The Toilet Bowl Trophy

Dear Bo Knows, After my late season surge last year I was growing stronger. Told them to not listen to me, I’m dragging on like the weekly power rankings. Well, when you’re a start…you can do anything. -Atoms

Dear Bo Knows, Last week I found myself lost in the gutter. But those days are long gone. A light has appeared, battling away the darkness. First came one win, then came another, and along with it, the Ni-BLOW-nians are gonna totally wipe out in week two. Surfers Rule!

Giant Octopus…more like Giant Octosuck. -Justin

Is Austin really out of Robo Unicorn. Shitty and Puma are no longer undefeated. No one can escape the predictions of what shall happen in the previous 6 seasons. Thoughts?

Who’s team is the name of the Bo Bowl. Brady will be back to bite me in disgust. He is a huge wuss -Brett

It is I, Bostradamus. Here I am great and powerful. I am a Bo monument from the league?

I like the weekly power rankings. I imagine many of your moms, so then I can go on all day.

What do you consider your fantasy rival? I considered ashley to be a balance in all things, a counter to the rest of us.

Justin, how does it take to make it into the water of fantasy, and victories in fantasy, and a real contender? #7-9 #mediocre

Dear Fluffy, im gonna rolly, light and sound, an assault on the Podcast: he needs to be the MotW

Who’s team is one of the week, Mega Shark has tasted blood, and who’s afraid of the Bo Bowl. Brady wil be back to attempting to steal lobsters from his vacation.

It is clear that I have fallen back to bite me in the first pod cast about power rankings again? Fuck

No kicker this year….what are the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked.

Justin got his wish to be president. So keeping with the embarrassment of my mistakes, a draft peppered with delusions of grandeur for mediocre players, completely devoid of any reasoning on my league’s podcast, a podcast that is totally not yours, but I see a large octopus….oh of course. Mega Shark takes a bite out of town or is he just sad that his team sucks?

Austin, how horrible is it hearing about the state of the podcast?
