Team of the Week – Butthole Surfers

Bo Knows Season 11 is underway, and as the league battles it out for top dog, the BO KNOWS WEB DEVELOPMENT AND ANALYTICS TEAM is working hard to revamp and remodel our beloved boknowsfantasy.com. One thing weโ€™ll be working on over the next couple weeks is updating and improving the team pages so they more accurately reflect each ownerโ€™s history, stats, style and more.

In an effort to collect this information, THE COMMISH has commissioned a questionnaire to get some hot deets from each owner. Every week we will highlight a different team on the site, and to start things off, letโ€™s take a look at our reigning Bo Bowl Champion, the Butthole Surfers.

The Butthole Surfers joined the league before the 2016 season after the surprise offseason retirement of manager Juan Mejorado. At the end of Bo Knows Season 6 in 2015, only a year removed from winning the second of back-to-back Bo Bowl Championships, Scruffy Looking Nerf Herderโ€™s announced they would not be returning for the leagueโ€™s 7th season. This left an opening in the league which was quickly filled by Ryan, and in the four seasons that have followed, the Butthole Surfers have done nothing but win.

Ryan has raised the trophy two times in four years and has never had a losing season on the way to a 36-17 (.679) all-time regular season record. The Surfers have been top 2 in total points scored for 3 of the 4 years they have been in the league. After the BUTT clinched their second trophy last season, Ryan and the Surfers became the third team in Bo Knows history to win it all twice (after the Nerf Herders and Dreadmetal Pumaskulls). Heading into Season 11, the Surfers have a chance to go back-to-back for only the second time in the leagueโ€™s history.

Manager: Ryan Rudaitis
Team Anthem/Fight Song: True Believers – The Bouncing Souls

Favorite NFL Team

Caw! Caw! Obviously I love watching the Ravens for Lamarโ€ฆ But I think they won me over in my first couple years of playing FF with their D/ST, that was one thing about the old D/ST scoring was it really got you to root for a whole team, and the Ravens helped me out on quite a few occasions.

Favorite BUTT Player of All-Time

Can I have 2? I don’t think I would have gotten my first leather band without Todd Gurley, that man was a 1 way ticket to the championship in 2017 and will forever be remembered for it. My second player is Fred Warner, I didn’t actually draft him so I hope he still qualifies, but he will forever hold a special place in my heart. He tore it up for me in the second half of the 2019 season, and then in the championship week he racked up a bunch a tackles and decided he would cap that off by intercepting a screen and taking it to the house, and thus earning himself a spot in the Butthole Surfers Hall of Fame.

Draft Strategy

I love me some studly Running Backs, I usually like to try and collect as many as possible… my goal is always to have the best RBs in the league.

Most valuable position on your fantasy team: Running Backs, nothing feels better than when you know you have a RB that has a secure role and you can count on them to get plenty of carries and goal line work every week.

Bo Knows Rival(s)

The Nibblonians. Between our matchup in the 2017 Bo Bowl, and the fact that they always seem to collect a lot of the players that I have my eye on….it seems like every draft I’m always kicking myself because I got bought out on all of my draft targets by the Nibbloninans.

The Butthole Surfers will play the Nibblonians twice this season, in week 4 and in week 11.

We want to feature *YOUR* team next week. Fill out the questionnaire here.
