Week 14 Madness

We’re down to the final week of the season and only one playoff spot has been locked up. Four teams from Robo’s Rainbows duke it out for the final three spots. Let’s check out all the different ways this can go down.

First off, let’s look at our Week 14 matchups. This week couldn’t have been planned any better as all four of these teams are playing each other.

Boomers vs Pumaskulls:

This one looks tight as the system has Boomers at 53.8% and Pumaskulls at 46.2%. The teams are pretty evenly matched, each one scoring an average of about 114 points a week.

The biggest difference being Pumaskulls’ volatility versus Boomers’ stability. When they last played, Boomers won by nearly 20 points, and the Pumaskulls have only scored more points than Boomers five times this season.

Atoms vs Surfers:

This game has a slightly more aggressive projection for Atoms than it did for Boomers, but still looks like it’s going to be a very close game. Right now Atoms are favored 56.54% to Surfers 43.46%, although Surfers have averaged 125.53 points over the last three weeks to Atoms 118.72.

Atoms beat the Surfers in their first matchup this year, but only by 2.5 points. If they had played each other for the last 6 weeks, they would each come away with 3 wins.

Week 14 Outcomes:

The biggest factors in Week 14 are the Atoms’ and Pumaskulls’ extra win, and Atoms’ considerable lead in points over the other teams. Atoms and Pumaskulls only have one scenario where they might be eliminated, and Boomers and Surfers have three. The tables show the final standings in each scenario, and teams are ranked based on their current points.

Boomers and Atoms win:

ATOM 10
AFB 9
DMPS 9
BUTT 8

In the case that the Boomers and Atoms win, Surfers will the odd man out with only 8 wins.

Boomers and Surfers win:

ATOM 9
AFB 9
BUTT 9
DMPS 9

This is the maximum chaos scenario, with all four teams going to a tie-breaker. This is the only scenario in which Atoms or Pumaskulls can be eliminated, although with Atoms’ considerable lead in points over Pumaskulls (92.2 points), it seems extremely unlikely that they would be eliminated. For the other three teams, it will come down to whoever has the lowest score for the week, as all teams are within 30 points of one another. This is the worst case scenario for Pumaskulls, as they currently have the lowest point total in the group.

Pumaskulls and Atoms win:

ATOM 10
DMPS 10
AFB 8
BUTT 8

Here Boomers and Surfers would go to a tie-breaker. Currently Boomers have a 14 point lead over Surfers, so if they manage to score a good amount of points this week, they’ll still make it in with a loss. In the event of a loss, Surfers will need to score a considerable amount of point this week to make the cut.

Pumaskulls and Surfers win:

DMPS 10
ATOM 9
BUTT 9
AFB 8

Here Boomers are the odd man out, and Pumaskulls will be the division leader.
